Sepilok day trip from Sandakan

Sandakan is 25 km from the orangutans, which makes Sepilok the easiest world-class wildlife day in Borneo. Pick-up at your hotel or straight off a morning flight, the 10:00 feeding, the sun bears while they're active, lunch, and either the 15:00 feeding or the RDC canopy walk before we drop you back. The full day
- 08:30 Pick-up at your Sandakan hotel, or Sandakan Airport for flights landing by about 09:00. Luggage travels with us.
- 09:30 Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre: tickets and camera fees handled, front-of-deck spot for the 10:00 feeding, then the outdoor nursery.
- 11:15 Sun Bear Conservation Centre, while the bears are still climbing.
- 12:30 Lunch at a Sepilok resort restaurant.
- 14:00 Your choice: the 15:00 orangutan feeding (same ticket) or the RDC canopy walkway and lake trail.
- 16:00 Depart Sepilok; Sandakan hotel or airport by about 16:45, in time for evening flights.
The half day
Pick-up 08:45, the 10:00 feeding and nursery, the Sun Bear Centre, back in Sandakan by about 13:00. Right for cruise-ship calls, tight schedules, and anyone connecting to an afternoon Kinabatangan transfer. If proboscis monkeys matter, look at the Sepilok + Labuk Bay day instead.
Included / not included
Included: private air-conditioned vehicle, licensed English-speaking guide, all entrance and camera fees, lunch on the full day, bottled water. Not included: flights, the RDC night walk (add an overnight for that), tips. Children welcome at half the entrance rate; child seats on request.
Worth knowing
The orangutan centre closes 12:00–14:00 and at 16:00 sharp, and Grab pick-ups at the gate are unreliable, which is most of what you're paying a tour to not think about.
