Paganakan Dii sits on a hillside just outside the reserve road proper: longhouse-style rooms and private chalets built into the slope, hammocks strung over the valley, and the best value-for-atmosphere ratio in the area.
The place
It's rustic on purpose — timber, fans, open-air common spaces — and beloved for it. The valley outlook at dawn, with gibbons calling from the reserve, is the kind of thing fancier places can't buy. The distance is the trade: you'll want their shuttle or a car for the centres rather than walking.
Why stay here
Backpackers who've upgraded slightly, couples on a budget, and anyone who values mood over marble. Book the private chalets early; there aren't many.
