The newest of the reserve-road resorts, Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort pitches slightly above the pack: modern rooms with jungle-view balconies, a pool, and a bar terrace that catches the sunset over the canopy.
The place
Rooms are the most hotel-like in Sepilok — proper mattresses, reliable hot water, glass instead of gauze — which is exactly what some visitors want after a Kinabatangan lodge. The terrace fills with a friendly mix of guides and guests by 18:00.
Why stay here
Anyone bridging between the jungle portion of a trip and comfort, or celebrating something. Pair it with the RDC night walk and a 09:00 gate start; a car to the centres takes five minutes if the heat argues against the walk.
